The Slipshod

The life of a detective has been increasingly unsatisfactory so our hapless protagonist Dick Spear, name probably changed, sets up for a new career in porn industry. A promising opportunity shows itself with the audition for the lead role in the upcoming film The Slipshod that is directed by one of the most revered adult film directors in the business Gina Fréva. His task: satisfy her. Other than penetration with his... spear Dick is free to use any method he sees fitting. Can he figure out the way to the most desirable result?

The Slipshod is a short parody game resembling the point n' click adventures of the early 1990's in its audiovisuals and mechanics. It takes its general vibe from Leisure Suit Larry series by having naughty humor - though in more laconic flavor - and as typical for its time has puzzle where your understanding  logic has to be re-calibrated. Because of the setting and type of comedy not safe for work content is to be expected.

This game has been made by the students of Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences as a customer project to promote the play Huolimattomat (The Slipshod being the funniest translation of that word) at Huoneteatteri, premiering on September 17, 2022. It is played by the play's main character in the beginning and while they don't share the premise there are references in the game's writing that those knowing the play may be able to recognize.

It should be also noted that because this game is supposed to be the same game that exists in the play's universe it has... features that show why The Slipshod had only one shareware distributed part of three from which the latter ones were never made. In other words if something the game sucks it was most likely meant to be that way.

DEVELOPER'S NOTE: As of September 23 the complete build has been now released. It has some smaller bugs but should mostly function as intended and have all the cutscene pictures, the main reason for the game's adult content rating. The active development stops here but comment if there's some major glitches lingering around.

Update on September 26: Fixed some sound and UI related issues like music not playing properly during endings.

Update on December 14: Turns out there was a bug that prevented people from seeing the endings and we didn't notice it because it worked fine in the editor but something went wrong during transition to build. This has now been fixed - I tested the complete build to make sure - but let me know if you encounter something game breaking.
